It is an intensive, virtual 48-hour builders competition organized as part of the TNGIMPACT AI Summit 2026. The goal is to encourage developers, students, and creators to design functional, working prototypes using Artificial Intelligence to tackle community-level issues in Africa.

It is the official challenge statement of the hackathon. We ask participants to pinpoint a single, specific observable problem within African agriculture, education, healthcare, trade, or municipal services and engineer a lightweight digital tool leveraging AI models to alleviate it.

The hackathon is open to all registered summit attendees—including university undergraduates, recent graduates, self-taught programmers, software engineers, product designers, and social innovators.

No! We welcome students from all academic departments—including agriculture, business, health sciences, education, and humanities. Cross-disciplinary teams often formulate the most practical ideas.

Yes. Solo builders are fully eligible to enter, submit their project repositories, and compete for all grand prize rankings.

Yes! You can assemble and register a team inside your workspace dashboard. Working in a team helps you divide labor between coding, documentation, and filming the demo video.

Teams can consist of a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 4 members. All members must be registered participants.

Yes, mobile applications are highly welcomed. You can build native apps (Kotlin, Swift), cross-platform apps (Flutter, React Native), or Progressive Web Apps (PWAs).

Yes. Fully responsive websites, localized landing dashboards, and web portal hubs integrated with AI backends are all eligible.

Yes! Autonomous agent scripts, LangChain workflows, and LLM orchestration tools that execute actions on behalf of a user are excellent submissions.

Yes. AI-driven backend automation pipelines, database triggers, message-queue summarizers, or web crawlers that save significant business hours are valid project types.

Absolutely. You are encouraged to leverage LLM APIs (OpenAI GPT, Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude, Mistral) or open-source weights (Llama, Gemma) to power your application features.

Yes! Tools like GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Replit, ChatGPT, and v0 are fully allowed to accelerate your development speed during the 48-hour build window.

No. This is a learning-focused hackathon. Our mentors and resources are set up to support beginners, helping you acquire practical AI engineering experience along the way.

Choose a localized problem. For example: helping farmers predict prices, helping students practice mock project defences, matching youth to jobs, or automating local merchant inventories.

Submissions are graded on a 100-point scale: Real-World Impact (25%), Technical Execution & Code Quality (25%), Innovation & Originality (20%), User Experience & Polish (15%), and the Demo Video clarity (15%).

You must submit: 1. A public GitHub repository containing your code, 2. A 3-to-5 minute demo video (uploaded to YouTube or Drive), 3. Clarifications of the problem statement, solution mechanics, and AI integration details.

Your video must be between 3 and 5 minutes long. Show the core problem context briefly, and spend the remaining time demonstrating the working application logic and output.

Yes! Registration, coding assistance sessions, mentor evaluations, and submission portals are entirely free ($0) to participate.

All team profiles, repositories, and demonstration URLs must be uploaded before Saturday, September 5th, at 11:59 PM WAT. Late entries cannot be reviewed by the jurors.

Official panel judges evaluate submissions according to the scoring criteria. Additionally, registered summit attendees vote on public showcase projects to choose the "People's Choice Award."

Yes! All approved project submissions are instantly indexable, searchable, and reviewable in our public Project Showcase gallery so you can share your achievements.

Outstanding participants may receive cash awards from the Winner Support Fund, 1-year premium licenses to GHD Learn, professional internship consideration with GHD Agency, mentorship, special technology benefits, and premium certificates of excellence. Cash awards are subject to available program funding and partner support.

Yes. The TNGIMPACT AI Summit is a virtual event. We accept registrations from any country, with active builders already registered across multiple nations.

Yes. International students studying in any college globally are fully eligible and encouraged to form teams and submit projects.

Absolutely. We have builders representing Ghana, Sierra Leone, Egypt, South Africa, and other African nations.

Yes! This is an open event. Anyone from any geographic territory can enter the AI Challenge, collaborate online, and submit their project.
